5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Gym Week of January 3, 2022


WELCOME BACK TO EVERYONE! I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT CHRISTMAS BREAK. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THE KIND CARDS AND GIFTS. IT WAS ALL GREATLY APPRECIATED!


WEEKLY REMINDERS

  • Monday, January 3rd - Students return to school. School/Church doors close at 8:15 AM. No admittance after 8:15 AM beginning Monday. Health and Safety Protocols of COVID-19.
  • Tuesday, January 4th - Gym Classes will be held on Tuesday due to the Archdiocesan Religion Test. Students are reminded to wear Gym clothes on Tuesday and not Friday.
  • Friday, January 7th - Archdiocesan Religion Test for grades 3-8th. EARLY DISMISSAL for students in Pre-K - 8th. Dismissal at 12pm NOON.
  • Progress Reports will be sent home on Friday


5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • There will only be 3 days of classes this week. We will recap what we learned the last week of school before break. Students will continue working on Chapter 1, Lessons 4-5. 
  • Students will receive a number of assignments this week in class as well as for homework to prepare for the chapter test next week.
  • Homework and Classwork shall be posted on Google Classroom this week.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING)
  • Students will continue to recap what they learned before the break. During Wednesday's classes, students will continue to work on Code.org through assignments. During the next month students will be learning about conditionals and loops in computer coding, which will then lead to the next project at the end of the month.
  • CodeSpeak will continue on Thursdays. Mr. Kevin will be here and continue to teach us how to use Bitsbox and Scratch.
  • As previously stated, students should take advantage and concentrate on the work we are doing in both classes as it will prepare students for the robotics program.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
  • Gym classes will be held on TUESDAY! Gym classes have been rescheduled due to the Archdiocesan Religion Test on Friday. Students are reminded to wear FULL GYM UNIFORM ON TUESDAY. STUDENTS ARE TO COME TO SCHOOL UNIFORM ON FRIDAY.

3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th grade Social Studies, Coding & Physical Education Week of April 24, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. Gym & 5th Grade Social Studies

Hello Everyone! I hope all is well while we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. As we continue to live life, lots of changes we will have to work through. As you have heard from our principal, students will continue to have classes remotely on Google Classroom. We understand that there will have to be some adjustments made in order for students to receive their work as well as feedback from teachers. Please bare with us as we continue to provide an education for your child as best as we can. Blogs will be updated daily with materials, as well as homework for students to check on Google Classroom. For the time being, remote classes shall generally follow typical school schedules. 5th Grade Social Studies class will be held Monday-Friday at 11:15 am to 12:00pm. Students should log in to Google Classroom at the start of class everyday.
