3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of November 28, 2022

  WEEKLY REMINDERS EARLY DISMISSAL on FRIDAY DECEMBER 2nd. School children will dismiss at 12 NOON 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will continue working on Chapter 2 from our textbooks. This week in class we will review Lessons 2-4. Students will be working on various skills in class this week which include vocabulary comprehension and critical thinking skills. Two homework assignments will be given on Tuesday. Please look towards google classroom for more information. Computer Science (Coding & Robotics) Students will be wrapping up Unit 2 this week on Code.org Students will begin applying what they have learned from Unit 2 to create events and loops for the Sphero robots. Students will be learning how adding an event to a program can affect the code on a robot. Loops will help students code faster and optimize their code within Sphero robots.   WEEKLY REMINDERS Can Food Drive will continue this week. Please remember to bring in Canned Food. The class with the most canned food with be presented with a pizza party! Thanksgiving Day Mass on Wednesday November 23 at 10 AM. Honors Assembly will go on after Mass. Parents are welcomed to join. NO TITLE 1 CLASSES ON WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 23. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM WILL CLOSE AT 5PM ON WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 23. No Gym Classes this week! SCHOOL IS CLOSED THURSDAY & FRIDAY for THANKSGIVING. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will continue to review Chapter 2 from our textbook. This chapter will consist of study of Native American cultures in the U.S. This week in class we will cover lessons 2-3. Two homework assignments will be given to students on Monday. WEEKLY REMINDERS Report Card meetings are this WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 16. Please make sure to sign up for either in person or zoom meetings.  In person meetings will be held from 1pm to 3pm, while Zoom meetings will be held from 3pm-6pm. Dismissal for students on Wednesday will be at 12 NOON. There will be NO AFTER SCHOOL. Sign up sheets will be posted below. Students are welcomed to dress up as their favorite character and join in on the contest.   WEEKLY REMINDERS School is OPEN on ELECTION DAY TUESDAY NOVEMBER 8th. Gym Classes will be held on Tuesday November 8th School is CLOSED THURSDAY for Professional Development Day, and FRIDAY for Veterans Day. Report Card Meetings will be held NEXT WEDNESDAY 1-6pm Mickey Mouse Day is Next Friday November 18th. Students are welcomed to dress up as Mickey or Minnie Mouse. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin to wrap up Chapter 1 from our textbooks. Students will begin to review notes and work on notes pertaining to questions from Chapter 1. Students will be given an in-class vocabulary quiz on Wednesday, and will be given the Chapter test as a take home test on Monday. Students should be reviewing powerpoint slides on google classroom for more information about the chapter.
