5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of January 24, 2022

WEEKLY REMINDERS TUESDAY JANUARY 25 NWEA SCIENCE MAP TESTING FOR GRADES 3-5 , STUDENTS IN GRADES 6-8 WILL BE TAKING READING MAP TEST. THURSDAY JANUARY 27 STUDENTS WILL BE TAKING RELIGION MID-TERM TEST. 5TH Grade Social Studies Students will begin reading Unit 2 from our textbooks this week. The chapters refer to the different cultures that meet and build the first colonies of The United States. As a reminder, there will be Vocabulary quizzes given during each lesson review. We will continue to work on ways to organize our notebooks and information given during class to better prepare for the exams. US MAP PROJECT is 25% done so far. Students have now completed the coloring and labeling of the map. Students will continue to use the map and will be given an exam examining their knowledge of the 50 states. WEEKLY REMINDERS Monday January 17, SCHOOL CLOSED for MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DAY Tuesday January 18 is WINNIE THE POOH DAY, students may come dressed up like Winnie The Pooh Wednesday January 19, NWEA MAP LANGUAGE ARTS EXAM. Thursday and Friday January 20 - 21, MAP MAKE UP DAYS, students that missed any MAP tests will be given time to make up those exams. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES After reviewing Chapter 2 exams, I have decided to give another exam to help make up for this past exam. Friday, January 21, students will be given a Unit exam covering Chapters 1 - 2. Students were given specific instructions on what to study last week and we will begin reviewing on Tuesday. Practice Exam will be given on Tuesday for students to take home on Google Classroom. Students will also be working on US MAP Projects as the first part of the project is coming to an end. More specific instructions about the Map Project will be given on Google Classroom. We will begin covering Chapter 3 next week. Digital

WEEKLY REMINDERS Monday January 10, NATIONAL FOURTH GRADERS DAY! 4th grade may come to school in play clothes to celebrate their day. MAP TESTING this week for grades K- 8th. Tuesday January 11, students in grades K- 5th will be taking NWEA Map Reading test. Grades 6- 8th will be taking NWEA Map Math test. Tuesday January 11, Mass at 9AM Students will also be receiving their progress reports on Tuesday. Wednesday January 12, students will take NWEA Map Math test. Thursday January 13, students will take NWEA Map Science test. It is also NATIONAL RUBBER DUCKY DAY, students may come to school in play clothes to celebrate. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will take their Chapter 2 exam on Monday. There will be no class during the week because of MAP testing. Students should review their US MAP as the first part of the project is almost complete. Students should take this time to finish coloring in the map and labeling the map with states, major bodies of water, as well as Native American

WELCOME BACK TO EVERYONE! I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GREAT CHRISTMAS BREAK. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THE KIND CARDS AND GIFTS. IT WAS ALL GREATLY APPRECIATED! WEEKLY REMINDERS Monday, January 3rd - Students return to school.  School/Church doors close at 8:15 AM.  No admittance after 8:15 AM beginning Monday.  Health and Safety Protocols of COVID-19. Tuesday, January 4th - Gym Classes will be held on Tuesday due to the Archdiocesan Religion Test. Students are reminded to wear Gym clothes on Tuesday and not Friday. Friday, January 7th - Archdiocesan Religion Test for grades 3-8th. EARLY DISMISSAL for students in Pre-K - 8th. Dismissal at 12pm NOON.
