3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of March 27, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDER Easter Recess begins on Friday March 31 at dismissial. Dismissial at 2:45pm. Students return to school on Monday April 17th 2023. 3rd grade should start bringing in shopping bags to pack up their desks by Wednesday. Thursday March 30th will be a coding and gym day. Students please make sure to wear proper gym attire on Thursday. Friday March 31 the class will be having a party for the last before break. I will be collecting $5 from everyone for pizza. Money will be due by thursday. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will be wrapping up Chapter 4 in our textbooks. Monday and Tuesday we will be reveiwing lessons 3-4 and working on a number of assignments related to the Plymouth and French and Dutch colonies. The main ideas of these lessons is to understand how colonies built a form of self- government and what kind of relations they had with Native Americans. Wednesday we will review the entire chapter and work on a study guide. Over the break I will be giving one assign

  WEEKLY REMINDERS Feast of St. Joseph Mass at 10 AM. Parents Welcomed! Thursday March 23 Gym classes will be held. Please remember to wear gym uniform on Thursday. Friday March 24 SCHOOL IS CLOSED! 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will continue to read Chapter 4 in our textbooks. Students will be covering Lessons 2-3 this week in class. Focusing on The Virginia Colony and the Plymouth Colony. We will be describing the relationships between settlers and Native Americans. We will also be discussing the beginnings of self government and democracy. Students will be working on their Critical Thinking Skills  this week. We will be using Primary Sources, Secondary Sources as well as a copy of The Mayflower Compact to understand and apply the steps in the problem solving process. No Homework will be given this week. Computer Science (Coding) Students will start Problem Solving and Computing. It is a highly interactive and collaborative introduction to the field of computer science, as framed

  WEEKLY REMINDERS Math Bee for grades 3-8th in lunchroom at 9AM on Tuesday. Parents are welcomed! Gym will be held on Thursday for all students! Progress Reports will be given on Thursday. St. Patrick's Day is on Friday March 17. School is CLOSED! 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will continue to read Lessons 1-2 this week in class. Lessons 1 & 2 will consist on the building of the first Spanish colonies and The Virginia Colony. The main ideas we will be focusing on in class will be the relations between new settlers and Native Americans, as well as the reason for English settlers to come to North America. One homework assignment will be given this week on Google classroom. COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING) Students will continue working on variables and loops in our coding program. Students will begin working on an in class project showcasing their skills on a game app. Sphero robots will be used to program codes on a soccer field. Mr. T will be here this week to start new projects

  WEEKLY REMINDERS Thursday March 9th is Barbie Day. Students may dress up as their favorite Barbie/Ken character. If you do not want to dress up as either or, students may dress up as a hippie. Friday March 10th is Stations of the Cross. Parents are welcomed to join us in Church at 11am. Progress Reports will be given out March 16th. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will review their Chapter 3 exam and work on fixing critical thinking questions. On Tuesday, students will begin reviewing Chapter 4: Building The First Colonies. Students will have four lessons to review before the chapter exam. These four lessons will consist of 24 vocabulary words, which students will have to copy and write in their notebooks for homework. This week we will be covering lessons 1 & 2. Main ideas for the lessons are Why did Spain set up colonies in North America? & Why did English settlers come to North America, and where did they settle first? Students will learn about the relations between Span
