4TH & 5TH Grade Social Studies Week of March 1, 2021

WEEKLY REMINDERS Monday March 1st is National Peanut Butter Lover's Day.... Hooray!! Everyone can't enjoy this awesome treat, but here is a video to hopefully make you appreciate Peanut Butter another way...CLICK THE LINK BELOW! National Peanut Butter Lovers Day Tuesday March 2nd is Dr. Seuss Day, Students can come dressed up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character. Season of Lent! Stations of the Cross have started to be held every Friday at 2:00 PM. Parents are more than welcome to join! 4TH Grade Social Studies Students will continue presenting BHM Projects on Monday. Grades will be posted on Google classroom by the end of the week.  During the rest of the week, students will be finishing reading Chapter 7 in our textbook. Students be aware that will be a number of assignments posted this week referring to Chapter 7. Chapter 7 Vocabulary and Exam will be held next week.   WEEKLY REMINDERS MONDAY FEBRUARY 15, 2021 - SCHOOL CLOSED ( PRESIDENTS DAY) WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 17, 2021 - ASH WEDNESDAY ( SCHOOL MASS 10 AM) MONDAY FEBRUARY 22, 2021 - EARLY DISMISSAL FOR STUDENTS 12 PM ( FACULTY MEETING) Greetings everyone! Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. Students in the 4th and 5th grade will be gin to review Black History Month in class this week. Students will receive an introduction into why we celebrate Black History and its importance to American History. Videos will be shown in class depicting several Black cultural icons who have left a lasting effect in history. These videos and other activities done in class will help students being to formulate an outline for projects. We will spend the entire week discussing the project and the importance of Black History in our country.   WEEKLY REMINDERS February is Black History Month! In order to commemorate the month, we will be working on the histories of famous Black Icons who inspired so many. Tuesday February 9, 2021 - National Pizza Day  Students will be receiving a slice of Dominoes Pizza as we celebrate the day. Thursday February 11, 2021 - Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes Teacher Conference Day SCHOOL CLOSED! Friday February 12, 2021 - Abraham Lincoln's Birthday  Chinese New Year Begins  School Closed - Professional Development Day 4TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will be begin to wrap up Chapter 6 this week. Chapter 6 Vocabulary Exam will be held on Monday, so please be prepared! Students should refer to the textbook, as well as the Power point for more info on the vocabulary from the chapter. WEEKLY REMINDERS CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK! SCHOOL CLOSED MONDAY FEB 1, 2021 - SNOW DAY FRIDAY FEB 5, 2021 EARLY DISMISSAL FOR STUDENTS K- 8TH - Parent Teacher Conferences 1pm - 6pm Report cards will be given out this week. I will be posting Parent/Teacher Conference meeting schedules on the blog for parents to sign up for. Please make sure you are signed up if you wish to speak to me on Friday. Students should be aware that this is the start of the 3rd quarter, and we should be focused on improving their grades. There is a number of students falling behind due to missing assignments and the reluctance to participate in class.  I have given students many opportunities to catch up and/or speak to me, but some of you have brushed off my emails.
