3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of January 30, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDERS Friday February 3rd school mass will be held. Blessing of the Throats, mass begins at 10 am. Parents are welcomed. Friday February 3rd is an EARLY DISMISSAL DAY. Students will be dismissed at 12 NOON. AFTER SCHOOL IS OPEN on FRIDAY. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held next week February 10th. Please make sure to sign up with teachers if you wish to speak to them. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students have been learning about the Age of Exploration in class, which focuses on the explorations of European explorers into the New World. Students will continue to work on Chapter 3 and finish lessons 3-4 this week. Students have been given a Map outline of the world similar to the one above. Students will be working on these maps for the next two weeks in order to outline the different routes taken by European explorers who discovered new lands.   WEEKLY REMINDERS NWEA MAP Testing will continue this week on Tuesday and Thursday. Quarter 2 ends this Friday! Please make sure you are up to date with any missing work and speak to your teachers about improving your grades. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will be working on lessons 2-3 this week in class form chapter 3. Students should be finishing their timeline projects, which they have been working on with Mrs Gonzalez. Students will be receiving two homework assignments this week. Please look towards google classroom for more information. COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING) Mr. T will be here this week to continue working with students on Code Speak. Students will be starting new projects this week to improve their coding skills. Students will also continue to work on Code.org and continue to work through lessons on Unit 3.   WEEKLY REMINDERS SCHOOL CLOSED MONDAY JANUARY 16 - Martin Luther King Jr Day NWEA MAP TESTING GRADES 3-8 on WEDNESDAY JANUARY 18 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will continue to work on Unit 2 from our textbooks. Students will continue to build on their knowledge of the first European explorers of North America. Students will continue to work on their timeline projects from the chapter on Tuesday and Wednesday. COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING) Students will continue to work on Unit 3 on our coding program. Students will continue to build algorithms using loops, nested loops, and conditionals in their programs. Their will be no CodeSpeak classes this week due to NWEA Map Testing. Code Speak classes will resume next week. PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM) Gym classes are on schedule this week. Please remember to wear full gym attire on Friday!   WEEKLY REMINDERS School resumes Tuesday January 3rd 2023. All students are to return to school in full uniform. Mid-term exams begin next week. Students are to make sure to ask teachers for extra help if needed before they take the exam. Friday January 6 the school will have Mass at 10 am for the Feast of the Epiphany. Parents are welcomed. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will continue to review Unit 1 from our textbooks. Students will prepare to wrap up Unit 1 and take the Unit exam on Wednesday. Students will also begin to be introduced to Unit 2. Unit 2 consists of when Europeans began to explore the North American continent. No homework will be given this week. Please use the time to study for the Unit exam. COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING) Students will move on to Unit 3 on our coding curriculum.
