3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of Sept 26, 2022



WEEKLY REMINDERS

  • NWEA MAP Testing will continue this week. Students will be taking the Reading exam on Tuesday, and the Science exam on Thursday.
  • Title 1 classes for 3rd grade are on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Gym Classes are back to normal schedule this week.

5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES

  • Students will continue reading Chapter 1. Students will begin to analyze what makes states and regions unique.
  • Students will be working on Hispanic Heritage Month projects.
  • Homework assignments will be given on Monday. Please look towards Google Classroom for more information.

3RD- 8TH GRADE COMPUTER SCIENCE
  • Students will continue working on sequencing algorithms using Code.org.
  • Students will also begin using the Sphero Robots this week. Students will learn how to create their own Draw programs, including movement (direction and speed) and lights.
  • Students will also be continuing to learn HTML and C++ with Mr. T from CodeSpeak this week.

  • 3rd Grade students will learn how characters can interact with each other by using sensing blocks and forever loops; they made a basic game where a Hungry Cat catches Apples. 
  • 4th & 5th Grade students will program an interactive slideshow that incorporates their original, digital art!
  • 6th Grade students will make greeting cards for friends and family using JavaScript, practicing how to manipulate text on their web apps.
  • 7th and 8th grade students will learn about forms and input fields and create their own webpage with a field for visitors to enter their email address.
  • STUDENTS ARE REMINDED THAT THEY NEED A NOTEBOOK AND INDEX CARDS FOR CLASS! PLEASE REMEMBER TO GET ALL MATERIALS NEEDED.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
  • Gym classes will be on a regular schedule this week.
  • Please remember to wear a full gym uniform on Friday.

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. Gym & 5th Grade Social Studies

Hello Everyone! I hope all is well while we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. As we continue to live life, lots of changes we will have to work through. As you have heard from our principal, students will continue to have classes remotely on Google Classroom. We understand that there will have to be some adjustments made in order for students to receive their work as well as feedback from teachers. Please bare with us as we continue to provide an education for your child as best as we can. Blogs will be updated daily with materials, as well as homework for students to check on Google Classroom. For the time being, remote classes shall generally follow typical school schedules. 5th Grade Social Studies class will be held Monday-Friday at 11:15 am to 12:00pm. Students should log in to Google Classroom at the start of class everyday.
