3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of December 19, 2022


WEEKLY REMINDERS
  • This is the last week of school before Christmas break! Students are reminded to bring in bags to empty out their desks to prepare for the break.
  • Christmas break begins Wednesday December 21 at 3 pm. Students are to return to school January 3, 2023.

  • Tuesday December 20 is Ugly Christmas Sweater day. Students may dress up with their ugliest Christmas sweaters. We will be having an in-class contest to see who has the ugliest sweater.
  • Wednesday December 21 is our Lessons & Carols mass at 10 AM. Parents are welcomed to join us in church. Students should be dressed up in Christmas themed clothing for that day.
  • We will be having a class party on Wednesday. I will be collecting $5 dollars from students to buy pizza. Everything else will be provided.

  • There is NO AFTER SCHOOL AND TITLE 1 PROGRAMS ON WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 21. DISMISSAL FOR ALL STUDENTS IS AT 3 PM.


5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES

  • Students will use the last two days of classes to work on their Native American Projects.
  • Students will be creating a diorama of a Native American group. Students will be using arts and crafts to make these in class. If possible, students should bring in an empty sneaker box to help create the diorama.
  • We will finish reviewing Chapter 2 exam from Friday.

COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING)
  • Students will end the year working with Sphero. Students will be able to put what they have learned so far using Sphero and map games created to code Sphero into helping you win the games.
  • There will be no CodeSpeak classes this week because of the short week.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
  • There will be no gym classes this week. 
  • Students are asked to keep up with their routine while at home during the break.

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. Gym & 5th Grade Social Studies

Hello Everyone! I hope all is well while we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. As we continue to live life, lots of changes we will have to work through. As you have heard from our principal, students will continue to have classes remotely on Google Classroom. We understand that there will have to be some adjustments made in order for students to receive their work as well as feedback from teachers. Please bare with us as we continue to provide an education for your child as best as we can. Blogs will be updated daily with materials, as well as homework for students to check on Google Classroom. For the time being, remote classes shall generally follow typical school schedules. 5th Grade Social Studies class will be held Monday-Friday at 11:15 am to 12:00pm. Students should log in to Google Classroom at the start of class everyday.
