Gym & 5th Grade Social Studies
Hello to October!
Lots of changes this week. Please be aware of schedule changes for this week. Tuesday is class picture day. Student are reminded that classes in the morning will be rescheduled due to pictures being taken in the auditorium. Students will be able to change into gym uniforms after pictures are taken. Wednesday, October 9, is Fire Prevention Day. Firefighters will be in the school teaching kids about fire safety. Classes will be rescheduled.
Students in 5th grade should be getting ready to start working on Hispanic Heritage Presentations. Presentation details have been given to kids and has been posted on google classroom. I will also post information here on the blog. We will be going over more information this week during classes. In class this week, we will getting ready to take our first chapter test. Students should be reviewing all the work we have been doing in notebooks as well as workbooks. I will be giving students chapter review sheets for an easier study guide. We will also be starting chapter 2. Please be prepared to work hard!
HISPANIC HERITAGE PRESENTATIONS
Students will research their Hispanic person. Information on the person are needed to be on google slides. Students should start researching and gathering information on their person.
1. BIRTH - When and where was he/she born? Where did he/she grow up?
2. EDUCATION - Where did he/she go to school? What was his/her education?
3. FAMILY - Write about his/her family life.
4. 3 FACTS - Write 3 interesting facts about him/her.
5. OBSTACLES - What were the challenges and obstacles he/she had to overcome?
6. CHANGE - What did he/she want to change? What kind of ideas and beliefs did he/she have?
7. KEY EVENTS - Write at least 3 key events of his/her life.
8. LEGACY - What were him/her accomplishments? What did he/she achieve and how did he/she change the world?
9. I LEARNED - What can we learn from (name) ? Why is it important to remember him/her?
10. SHARE - If you met him/her, what would you ask her? What would you tell her or show her?
11. I CAN - you can change the world too. What are some things you can do to create a better world like (name) ?
