5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Gym Week of December 13, 2021



WEEKLY REMINDERS
  • This is the last week of school before Christmas break. Christmas break starts December 17 and ends January 3, 2022.
  • 4TH Grade students are to bring bags on Friday to pack up their books from their desks.
  • December 17 is The Festival of Lessons and Carols. Students will be performing in church at 9 AM.
  • We will be having a classroom party on Friday. I will be collecting $5 for pizza. Students can bring in anything else they desire for the class.
  • Thursday, December 16 is Ugly Sweater Day. We will have a in class contest for the best ugly sweater, so come in with your ugliest sweater for a sweet prize!

5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Monday, December 13 students will be given lesson 3 Vocabulary quiz. 
  • Wednesday, December 15 students will be given lesson 4 Vocabulary quiz.
  • We will be reviewing the rest of the chapter this week.
  • Students who are missing homework assignments should be making sure to turn those in as progress reports will be given out this week.

Digital Technology (Coding)
  • Students have been working on developing an app using music. Coding projects are due This WEDNESDAY!
  • Students should be caught up on Coding Lessons 1-9 on Code.org

  • 3rd-5th grade:
  • Students learn how to prompt transition effects when specific conditions are met. In this project, their scenes transition from the past, present, and future.
  • Students program a clicker game with virtual instruments that play different notes and beats when clicked.
  • Students built a game where the player dodges a "bad" sprite while they chase a goal. The player's score or health, through a variable, changes based on what they manage to collect.

  • 6th-8th grade:
  • Students will program an app that will have stamp interaction with each other and implement lists/arrays to the moving enemies.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
  • There will be no gym class because of Lessons and Carols and Classroom parties on Friday.

3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th grade Social Studies, Coding & Physical Education Week of April 24, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. 5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of April 25, 2022

WEEKLY REMINDERS SCHOOL RESUMES MONDAY, APRIL 25TH 2022 Students in grades 3-8th will be taking the NYS MATH Exam on Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday April 27th is Secretary's Day. Make sure to thank Alba for all her hard work in the office! 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES We will be reviewing and wrapping up Chapter 4. We will spend Monday reviewing the take home chapter test given to everyone before the break. Wednesday April 27, we will begin to review Unit 2 from our textbook. Unit 2 consists of material from Chapters 3 and 4. The unit test will be given next week. After the Unit test we will begin the following Unit, which focuses on the 13 colonies. The flag below represents the original flag before the 50 states. No Homework will be given this week due to state testing. DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING) There will be no coding classes with Mr. Kevin this week due to state testing. Coding classes will resume next week.
