5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Gym Week of January 10, 2022


WEEKLY REMINDERS

  • Monday January 10, NATIONAL FOURTH GRADERS DAY! 4th grade may come to school in play clothes to celebrate their day.
  • MAP TESTING this week for grades K- 8th.
  • Tuesday January 11, students in grades K- 5th will be taking NWEA Map Reading test. Grades 6- 8th will be taking NWEA Map Math test.
  • Tuesday January 11, Mass at 9AM
  • Students will also be receiving their progress reports on Tuesday.
  • Wednesday January 12, students will take NWEA Map Math test.
  • Thursday January 13, students will take NWEA Map Science test. It is also NATIONAL RUBBER DUCKY DAY, students may come to school in play clothes to celebrate.

5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Students will take their Chapter 2 exam on Monday. There will be no class during the week because of MAP testing.
  • Students should review their US MAP as the first part of the project is almost complete.
  • Students should take this time to finish coloring in the map and labeling the map with states, major bodies of water, as well as Native American tribes located around the United States.
  • We will work on these maps as a class when we finish MAP testing.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING)
  • Students will continue to work on their projects within Code Speak with Mr. Kevin.
  • Students will also continue to work on lessons on Code.org with a special interest in conditionals and loops.
  • As stated before, students should pay extra attention to these next lessons as the project will be assigned to students at the end of the month

Physical Education (Gym)
  • Gym will be held as scheduled this week. Students are to make sure to have full gym uniform on Friday!

3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th grade Social Studies, Coding & Physical Education Week of April 24, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. 5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of April 25, 2022

WEEKLY REMINDERS SCHOOL RESUMES MONDAY, APRIL 25TH 2022 Students in grades 3-8th will be taking the NYS MATH Exam on Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday April 27th is Secretary's Day. Make sure to thank Alba for all her hard work in the office! 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES We will be reviewing and wrapping up Chapter 4. We will spend Monday reviewing the take home chapter test given to everyone before the break. Wednesday April 27, we will begin to review Unit 2 from our textbook. Unit 2 consists of material from Chapters 3 and 4. The unit test will be given next week. After the Unit test we will begin the following Unit, which focuses on the 13 colonies. The flag below represents the original flag before the 50 states. No Homework will be given this week due to state testing. DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING) There will be no coding classes with Mr. Kevin this week due to state testing. Coding classes will resume next week.
