5TH Grade Social Studies, Gym, & Coding Week of February 28, 2022




WEEKLY REMINDERS
  • Monday, February 28 students are to be in FULL DRESS UNIFORM as we will all come together at mass for the death of Mrs. Fundora's husband. The school shall attend Mass at 11am
  • Wednesday, March 2nd is Ash Wednesday. students will gather for mass at 10:30 am. It is also Dr. Seuss Day! Students may dress up with a Dr Seuss theme outfit.
  • Friday, March 4th is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 12 pm Noon. Stations of the Cross will begin at 11:30 am.


5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES

  • Students will continue to work on Black History Month Projects this week. We will continue to gather information and build our in house project of Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Students should continue to work on their project slideshow as projects will be presented March 7th.
  • We will continue to review Chapter 3 on Friday to prepare for the Chapter exam on Wednesday March 9th.
  • No homework will be given this week as students will continue to work on projects.



Digital Technology (Coding)
  • Students will continue to work on Lessons on Code.org.

  • 3rd - 5th graders will continue to work on the Fashion Game. Students developed a fashion game where different keys made different outfits appear and clicking on the outfit changes the color.Will dive more into learning about the 'random' blocks and the 'broadcasting' messages to send to other code.
  • 6th - 8th graders  will continue with Dig Doug. Students learned to rotate characters and programmed an app where an ant digs through sand and dodges pebbles the user drops.



Physical Education (Gym)
  • Friday, March 4th is an Early Dismissal Day. Students will have combined classes with other grades. Students are reminded that behavior is a major part of your grade. Some students are very surprised at their grades and continue with the same pattern, let's do our best to grow and learn!
  • Students are reminded to come prepared and to wear gym uniform on Friday.

3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th grade Social Studies, Coding & Physical Education Week of April 24, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. 5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of April 25, 2022

WEEKLY REMINDERS SCHOOL RESUMES MONDAY, APRIL 25TH 2022 Students in grades 3-8th will be taking the NYS MATH Exam on Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday April 27th is Secretary's Day. Make sure to thank Alba for all her hard work in the office! 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES We will be reviewing and wrapping up Chapter 4. We will spend Monday reviewing the take home chapter test given to everyone before the break. Wednesday April 27, we will begin to review Unit 2 from our textbook. Unit 2 consists of material from Chapters 3 and 4. The unit test will be given next week. After the Unit test we will begin the following Unit, which focuses on the 13 colonies. The flag below represents the original flag before the 50 states. No Homework will be given this week due to state testing. DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING) There will be no coding classes with Mr. Kevin this week due to state testing. Coding classes will resume next week.
