5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of March 28, 2022


WEEKLY REMINDERS
  • Students will be taking the NYS ELA Test on Tuesday March 29, and Thursday March 31.
  • Students will not be allowed to move from the class room for the allotted time, please remember to bring a thick sized book with you to read when you are finished.
  • Parent Teacher conferences will be held on Friday, April 1 from 1 pm to 6 pm
  • Conferences will be held in two separate options to accommodate everyone. Parents wishing to speak in person will be welcome to come to the school from 1 pm to 2:30 pm. Zoom meetings will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm. If you want to speak at a certain time during in person hours and can't come in please indicate that you want a zoom meeting in the sign up sheet.
  • Parents are asked to sign up for conferences on the sign up sheet below. Please indicate in the comments if you are in person or zoom.

  • Friday, April 1 2022, Early Dismissal Day 12 pm for all students. NO AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM!

5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Students will continue to review chapter 4 from their textbook.
  • We will finish Lessons 3 and 4 this week. Lesson 3 Vocabulary quiz will be on Wednesday, and Lesson 4 Vocabulary Quiz on Friday.
  • There will only be two homework assignments given this week. Please look towards Google Classroom for all homework assignments.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING)
  • Students will begin to put some of their coding skills to use with the new robotics curriculum. We will be doing a brief introduction to the robot program we will be using to properly code.
  • Students in grades 3-5th will be working on the Catch a Ghost: Similar to Hide and Seek, but this project uses "repeat until" block to make high scores possible. It repeats the game until you lose, then asks for your name if you made a high score.
  • Students in grades 6-8th will be working on Starfish Disco: Students programmed an app where they spawn characters by tapping a virtual tablet screen, and change the character's size based on location to create an illusion of depth.

Physical Education (GYM)
  • Friday will be an Early Dismissal day for all students. Gym classes will be combined throughout the day to fit every class on the schedule. Please remember to wear gym uniform on Friday.

3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th grade Social Studies, Coding & Physical Education Week of April 24, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. Gym & 5th Grade Social Studies

Hello Everyone! I hope all is well while we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. As we continue to live life, lots of changes we will have to work through. As you have heard from our principal, students will continue to have classes remotely on Google Classroom. We understand that there will have to be some adjustments made in order for students to receive their work as well as feedback from teachers. Please bare with us as we continue to provide an education for your child as best as we can. Blogs will be updated daily with materials, as well as homework for students to check on Google Classroom. For the time being, remote classes shall generally follow typical school schedules. 5th Grade Social Studies class will be held Monday-Friday at 11:15 am to 12:00pm. Students should log in to Google Classroom at the start of class everyday.
