5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of May 16, 2022


WEEKLY REMINDERS
  • Progress reports will be given out Friday May 20th. Students please make sure we are up to date with our school work.
  • NWEA MAP Testing will continue this week. Students will be testing Tuesday and Thursday. Students will be taking the Reading test on Tuesday, and the Math test on Thursday.
  • Wednesday, May 18 will follow a Friday schedule. Students are to come to school in GYM UNIFORM! Gym classes will be held Wednesday. Please make sure to be ready in full gym attire.
  • Friday, May 20th will be an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 12 noon. 
  • Students will be in Mass at 10 AM on Friday for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.


5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Students will continue to work on Chapter 5 in our textbooks. We will review lessons 1 and 2 this week.
  • There will only be 2 days of class this week because of the change in schedules and testing.
  • Please make sure to pay close attention to Google Classroom to see work assigned throughout the week.
  • Students will have Lesson 1 Vocabulary Quiz on Wednesday. Please make sure to study as there are only 6 words to remember!

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING)
  • There will be no Coding classes this week due to the schedule change and testing. If there is extra time throughout the week, we will continue to work with the Sphero robots.
  • Below are a few pictures of what some of the kids have been working on with the help of Mr. Kevin and CodeSpeakLabs.
  • Students at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School are becoming coding experts through practice and creating projects with the guidance of @codespeaklabs.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
  • Gym classes will be held on Wednesday, May 18 due to changes in the schedule.
  • Students are reminded to be in Full Gym ATTIRE on Wednesday, and FULL UNIFORM on Friday.
  • A reminder now that progress reports are coming up, Students are reminded that your participation and behavior are a major part of grading in Gym classes. Do your best and you will receive a good grade. Excuses and poor behavior will earn you a failing grade.

3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th grade Social Studies, Coding & Physical Education Week of April 24, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. WEEKLY REMINDERS SCHOOL RESUMES MONDAY, APRIL 25TH 2022 Students in grades 3-8th will be taking the NYS MATH Exam on Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday April 27th is Secretary's Day. Make sure to thank Alba for all her hard work in the office! 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES We will be reviewing and wrapping up Chapter 4. We will spend Monday reviewing the take home chapter test given to everyone before the break. Wednesday April 27, we will begin to review Unit 2 from our textbook. Unit 2 consists of material from Chapters 3 and 4. The unit test will be given next week. After the Unit test we will begin the following Unit, which focuses on the 13 colonies. The flag below represents the original flag before the 50 states. No Homework will be given this week due to state testing.
