3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Gym Week of Sept 18, 2022
WEEKLY REMINDERS
- Parents please make sure to hand in all forms which were given to everyone last week.
- Title 1 extended day classes will begin this week. Students that have signed up will go straight to class on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Classes run from 3:15 to 5:00 pm.
- NWEA Map testing will begin this week. Grades 3 - 8 will take Language Arts on Tuesday and Science on Thursday. Both tests run from 9:00 to 10:30 AM.
5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
- Students will begin discussing chapter 1 from our textbooks this week. Students will be discussing the importance of geography and how it affected where and how people lived.
- Students are reminded that although homework will only be given on Mondays, they should stay proactive with the lessons as we will be working on much of it in class.
- Students will also be discussing Hispanic Heritage this week, as well as building a foundation for our projects.
COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING & ROBOTICS)
- Students will continue working on building algorithms and debugging programs this week.
- We will also be introduced to "Sphero" this week. Sphero is the robot we will be working with this year in order to put our programming skills to test.
- Students will learn what Sphero is made of and how it works.
- Students will also be working on their keyboarding skills during the week.
- Classes with CodeSpeak are on schedule this week with Mr. Kevin. He will continue to introduce HTML code language this week to the 6-8th and Scratch with 3rd- 5th.
- AS A REMINDER, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT A NOTEBOOK AND INDEX CARDS ARE NECESSARY FOR CLASS.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
- Gym classes are on schedule this week. Please remember to wear proper gym uniform on FRIDAY.
- Having new sneakers on your feet is not an excuse to not participate in class.
