3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of November 28, 2022

 



WEEKLY REMINDERS
  • EARLY DISMISSAL on FRIDAY DECEMBER 2nd. School children will dismiss at 12 NOON



5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Students will continue working on Chapter 2 from our textbooks.
  • This week in class we will review Lessons 2-4.
  • Students will be working on various skills in class this week which include vocabulary comprehension and critical thinking skills.
  • Two homework assignments will be given on Tuesday. Please look towards google classroom for more information.



Computer Science (Coding & Robotics)
  • Students will be wrapping up Unit 2 this week on Code.org Students will begin applying what they have learned from Unit 2 to create events and loops for the Sphero robots.
  • Students will be learning how adding an event to a program can affect the code on a robot.
  • Loops will help students code faster and optimize their code within Sphero robots.
  • Students will also be starting new projects this month with Code Speak.
  • 3rd grade will Make Music: Students programmed a clicker game with virtual instruments that play different notes and beats when clicked.
  • 4th and 5th graders will Hide & Seek: Students coded Hide and Seek, a clicker game where players click on various items to earn points. Students used random timing and movement ranges to make the game more challenging.
  • 6th grade will be working on Fireflies love batteries Magnet: Students programmed an app where a firefly glides around; when it hits battery, it grows and zooms away.
  • 7th and 8th graders will to work on Blog: Students learned how to create a blog using HTML and CSS.



PHYSICAL EDUCATION (Gym)
  • Gym classes will be held on Friday December 2. 
  • Classes will be combined due to the short schedule on Friday.
  • Please remember to wear proper uniform on Friday!

3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th grade Social Studies, Coding & Physical Education Week of April 24, 2023

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. Gym & 5th Grade Social Studies

Hello Everyone! I hope all is well while we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. As we continue to live life, lots of changes we will have to work through. As you have heard from our principal, students will continue to have classes remotely on Google Classroom. We understand that there will have to be some adjustments made in order for students to receive their work as well as feedback from teachers. Please bare with us as we continue to provide an education for your child as best as we can. Blogs will be updated daily with materials, as well as homework for students to check on Google Classroom. For the time being, remote classes shall generally follow typical school schedules. 5th Grade Social Studies class will be held Monday-Friday at 11:15 am to 12:00pm. Students should log in to Google Classroom at the start of class everyday.
