3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of January 30, 2023

 


WEEKLY REMINDERS

  • Friday February 3rd school mass will be held. Blessing of the Throats, mass begins at 10 am. Parents are welcomed.
  • Friday February 3rd is an EARLY DISMISSAL DAY. Students will be dismissed at 12 NOON.
  • AFTER SCHOOL IS OPEN on FRIDAY.
  • Parent/Teacher conferences will be held next week February 10th. Please make sure to sign up with teachers if you wish to speak to them.

5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Students have been learning about the Age of Exploration in class, which focuses on the explorations of European explorers into the New World.
  • Students will continue to work on Chapter 3 and finish lessons 3-4 this week.
  • Students have been given a Map outline of the world similar to the one above. Students will be working on these maps for the next two weeks in order to outline the different routes taken by European explorers who discovered new lands.
  • Homework assignments will be given through google classroom. Please make sure to look towards google classroom for more information.

COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING)
  • Students will continue working on simulation games perfecting their algorithms and programs to run.
  • Students will continue to work through material we have been learning about in Unit 3, which works with building loops and conditionals within a code.
  • Students will also be working with Mr.T this week as he returns for Code Speak on Thursday.
  • New projects will be worked on during this class period.


PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
  • Gym classes are TBA this week due to early dismissal and Mass on Friday.
  • We might schedule classes on another day but that is to be decided.
  • Mr Woods will send an IRIS alert to let students know what day to come in gym uniforms.

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. Gym & 5th Grade Social Studies

Hello Everyone! I hope all is well while we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. As we continue to live life, lots of changes we will have to work through. As you have heard from our principal, students will continue to have classes remotely on Google Classroom. We understand that there will have to be some adjustments made in order for students to receive their work as well as feedback from teachers. Please bare with us as we continue to provide an education for your child as best as we can. Blogs will be updated daily with materials, as well as homework for students to check on Google Classroom. For the time being, remote classes shall generally follow typical school schedules. 5th Grade Social Studies class will be held Monday-Friday at 11:15 am to 12:00pm. Students should log in to Google Classroom at the start of class everyday.
