3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of March 13, 2023

 


WEEKLY REMINDERS

  • Math Bee for grades 3-8th in lunchroom at 9AM on Tuesday. Parents are welcomed!
  • Gym will be held on Thursday for all students!
  • Progress Reports will be given on Thursday.
  • St. Patrick's Day is on Friday March 17. School is CLOSED!


5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Students will continue to read Lessons 1-2 this week in class.
  • Lessons 1 & 2 will consist on the building of the first Spanish colonies and The Virginia Colony.
  • The main ideas we will be focusing on in class will be the relations between new settlers and Native Americans, as well as the reason for English settlers to come to North America.
  • One homework assignment will be given this week on Google classroom.


COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING)
  • Students will continue working on variables and loops in our coding program.
  • Students will begin working on an in class project showcasing their skills on a game app.
  • Sphero robots will be used to program codes on a soccer field.
  • Mr. T will be here this week to start new projects with everyone on Thursday.



PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
  • Gym classes will be held on Thursday March 16.
  • Students are reminded to wear full gym uniform on Thursday.

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. 5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of April 25, 2022

WEEKLY REMINDERS SCHOOL RESUMES MONDAY, APRIL 25TH 2022 Students in grades 3-8th will be taking the NYS MATH Exam on Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday April 27th is Secretary's Day. Make sure to thank Alba for all her hard work in the office! 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES We will be reviewing and wrapping up Chapter 4. We will spend Monday reviewing the take home chapter test given to everyone before the break. Wednesday April 27, we will begin to review Unit 2 from our textbook. Unit 2 consists of material from Chapters 3 and 4. The unit test will be given next week. After the Unit test we will begin the following Unit, which focuses on the 13 colonies. The flag below represents the original flag before the 50 states. No Homework will be given this week due to state testing. DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING) There will be no coding classes with Mr. Kevin this week due to state testing. Coding classes will resume next week.
