3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of March 20, 2023
WEEKLY REMINDERS
- Feast of St. Joseph Mass at 10 AM. Parents Welcomed!
- Thursday March 23 Gym classes will be held. Please remember to wear gym uniform on Thursday.
- Friday March 24 SCHOOL IS CLOSED!
5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
- Students will continue to read Chapter 4 in our textbooks.
- Students will be covering Lessons 2-3 this week in class. Focusing on The Virginia Colony and the Plymouth Colony.
- We will be describing the relationships between settlers and Native Americans. We will also be discussing the beginnings of self government and democracy.
- Students will be working on their Critical Thinking Skills this week. We will be using Primary Sources, Secondary Sources as well as a copy of The Mayflower Compact to understand and apply the steps in the problem solving process.
- No Homework will be given this week.
Computer Science (Coding)
- Students will start Problem Solving and Computing. It is a highly interactive and collaborative introduction to the field of computer science, as framed within the broader pursuit of solving problems.
- Students will practice using a problem solving process to address a series of puzzles, challenges, and real world scenarios. Next, they will learn how computers input, output, store, and process information to help humans solve problems. The unit concludes with a project in which students design an application that helps solve a problem of your choosing.
- Studnets will also be working with Mr. T this week during Code Speak.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)
- Thursday March 23 students will have coding classes and gym classes.
- Please remember to wear gym uniform on Thursday.
