3rd Grade Homeroom, 5th Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of March 27, 2023

 

WEEKLY REMINDER

  • Easter Recess begins on Friday March 31 at dismissial. Dismissial at 2:45pm.
  • Students return to school on Monday April 17th 2023.
  • 3rd grade should start bringing in shopping bags to pack up their desks by Wednesday.
  • Thursday March 30th will be a coding and gym day. Students please make sure to wear proper gym attire on Thursday.
  • Friday March 31 the class will be having a party for the last before break. I will be collecting $5 from everyone for pizza. Money will be due by thursday.




5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
  • Students will be wrapping up Chapter 4 in our textbooks.
  • Monday and Tuesday we will be reveiwing lessons 3-4 and working on a number of assignments related to the Plymouth and French and Dutch colonies.
  • The main ideas of these lessons is to understand how colonies built a form of self- government and what kind of relations they had with Native Americans.
  • Wednesday we will review the entire chapter and work on a study guide.
  • Over the break I will be giving one assignment to students which will be to take the Chapter test at home. Chapter test will consist of vocabulary words, main idea, and critical thinking questions.
  • Students will be given one homework assignment this week which is to finish Chapter 4, Lesson 4 Review Questions.


COMPUTER SCIENCE (CODING)
  • Students will be learning to adapt coded commands on a video game platform.
  • Students will use their knowledge of java script to build their own virtual world using minecraft.
  • Mr. T will also be here on Thursday to work with students during Code Speak classes.


PHYSICAL EDUCATION (GYM)

  • Gym will be held on Thursday March 30th on special schedule. This means some classes will be combined with others.
  • Students are reminded to please wear gym uniforms on Thursday.

  WEEKLY REMINDERS START OF THE 4TH QUARTER. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO KEEP UP WITH ALL YOUR WORK AND FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! WEDNESDAY APRIL 26 is SECRETARY'S DAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO THANK OUR SECRETARY ALBA FOR ALL HER HARD WORK! ALL CLASSES ARE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK. 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES Students will begin wrapping up Unit 2 from our textbooks. We will review the idea of different cultures meeting and how cultural differences and competition for land led to conflicts among different groups of people in the Americas. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing the last two chapters, which will prepare us for the Unit 2 exam on Wednesday. We will then begin to examine Chapter 5: The 13 colonies. We have started to discuss how the first 13 colonies were made and who established these colonies. Two homework assignements will be given this week. 5TH Grade Social Studies, Coding, & Physical Education Week of April 25, 2022

WEEKLY REMINDERS SCHOOL RESUMES MONDAY, APRIL 25TH 2022 Students in grades 3-8th will be taking the NYS MATH Exam on Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday April 27th is Secretary's Day. Make sure to thank Alba for all her hard work in the office! 5TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES We will be reviewing and wrapping up Chapter 4. We will spend Monday reviewing the take home chapter test given to everyone before the break. Wednesday April 27, we will begin to review Unit 2 from our textbook. Unit 2 consists of material from Chapters 3 and 4. The unit test will be given next week. After the Unit test we will begin the following Unit, which focuses on the 13 colonies. The flag below represents the original flag before the 50 states. No Homework will be given this week due to state testing. DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (CODING) There will be no coding classes with Mr. Kevin this week due to state testing. Coding classes will resume next week.
